Niu & Ushi WIP Part II

Ah, progress. Photoshop was giving me greif over pen pressure, but I kept at it...hitting ctrl+z....every...other...stroke.....

Final Piece WIP

This is the work in progress for the final render. These are only parts of the underpainting. The full color will be very different. Niu will have a golden tone and Ushi will have a silvery one. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'm doing with Photoshop...

ushi design ideation

These are just some idea sketches I was going through to nail down the mongolian motif for Ushi's design. I haven't quite decided what parts I will use or modify.

Niu & Ushi: sketch

This is the primary sketch for my rendering of  Niu (the girl) and Ushi (the ox). I still have to fix her leg so it doesn't look broken, tweak her face, and I need to change the angle of Ushi's front hoof. Overall I'm pretty happy with it so far.

ox anatomy studies

To help me understand the anatomy of an ox, I'm doing a short series of studies starting with the skeletal structure.

Here is the same drawing with the deep muscles in a layer over it.

And again with the superficial muscles.

Zodiac Project: Ox Sketches

I looked up a LOAD of ox and cattle references. These are just some of my favorites.
*Sidenote: The baby one with the heart on its head is for real. He was born like that. Makes me happy.*

Some concept sketches for my anthro ox-girl character, Niu. I made a crazy long backstory and everything. I'll be working on the ox himself after I have a finalized sketch of this character.
Here's the concept for Niu's face. Big eyes with long eyelashes, broad nose, cropped hair resembling the tufts that oxen have.... Oh yeah, also ox ears and horns.

SACHINO GEDIASHVILI (GEORGIAN DEEP-SEA EXPLORER)

Le Voila!!! Il est fini!!!
The first style is my own.
The second one is from the Wolverine & the X-Men tv series.
The third is in the style of Jhonen Vasquez, and probably my favorite turnout.

Sachino Gediashvili (Georgian Deep Sea Explorer) WIP

Sachino Gediashvili
(Georgian Deep-Sea Explorer)
First Name Meaning:  Sachino- “visible, prominent, clear”
Last Name Meaning:   Gedia- “It swims”;   ‘shvili- “child”
Age: 39
Hair Color: Dark Brown, beginning to gray on the sides
Eye Color: Grey-Blue
Skin Tone: Medium-Light
Personality: Driven and kind, with an occasionally sarcastic sense of humor. Ever the optimist, he has a hard time staying rooted.
Worst Fear: Disappointing his brother

Born on April 8, 1985 in the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republican Capital of Tbilisi, Sachino Gedia’shvili lived with his parents Nikloz and Shorena. The day after his fourth birthday he lost them in the Tbilisi Massacre. He was raised by his older brother Lasha. Sachino grew up admiring his brother’s strength and determination to make a better life. When he was seventeen years old, he and Lasha moved to the coastal city of Tofino, British Columbia so Lasha could continue his research in marine biology. Sachino took similar interest but wanted to explore further, so he began studying deep sea exploration. He continues his research and expeditions in hopes of pioneering a self-sustaining undersea colony for human inhabitation.

Georgian Deep Sea Explorer- Head Style Studies

Just the head studies for Sachino Gedia'shvili. I had a lot of fun playing with different styles.

georgian traditional costume reference

I'm not going to lie, I kind of want an outfit like this. It would have to be red or black though. If I wore green I think I would look like Link...

I'm the Captain. Is that a problem?

This is my self-portrait. I don't really have much experience with photoshop but I tried to use it like markers, paint, and collage. I've always wanted to be an airship captain...

Shapes to Characters 3

This page is by far my favorite.

Shapes to Characters 2

Technically my fourth attempt, but my second approved. I got a little Chris Sanders going on up there, the shape called for it.

Shapes to Characters 1

This is actually my second attempt at this assignment. I wasn't crazy about my first page so I trashed it, but I really enjoyed this one.
